In this role you lead a division within the City of Austin to steer development review and inspection services that reduce flood risk, erosion, and water pollution. You will shape short- and long-range plans, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance. You liaise with other city departments, consultants, and agencies, and you present findings to officials and the public. You drive policy, process improvements, and service delivery to support the city’s resilience and growth aims.
Responsabilités
- Develops and implements short- and long-range strategies, plans, programs, and personnel support for the division
- Sets goals, objectives, and resource needs for division activities
- Drafts and updates standard operating practices, policies, and procedures
- Ensures compliance with regulations, ordinances, and city policies
- Assists in departmental budget development, monitoring, and execution
- Recommends/approves major purchases and expenditures
- Serves as liaison to city departments, consultants, contractors, and other agencies
- Responds to sensitive inquiries and resolves issues from internal and external sources
- Prepares and presents data-driven reports, written or oral
- Investigates and resolves consumer and citizen inquiries and complaints
- Presents to City Council, boards, and officials, and engages with the general public
